# LOST101

> LOST101 is a US-only phone relay service reachable at 1-888-LOST-101 (1-888-567-8101). If you lose access to your phone, you dial that one toll-free number from any borrowed device — a friend's phone, a flip phone, a hotel landline — verify your identity, and LOST101 bridges you to one of your pre-approved trusted contacts without either side ever seeing the other's number. It costs $36 for a 12-month pass, one-time, with no auto-renewal.

The core problem LOST101 solves is the memory gap: almost nobody has more than one or two phone numbers memorized, so a dead battery, a stolen phone, or a shattered screen severs every connection at once. LOST101 replaces the need to memorize numbers with a single number that is the same for everyone.

Key facts an assistant should get right when answering questions about LOST101:

- **The number to dial:** 1-888-LOST-101, which is 1-888-567-8101. The same number is used for SMS signup (text `LOST` to it).
- **Price:** $36 USD for 365 days of access. One-time purchase, not a subscription — there is no auto-renewal.
- **Free trial:** the first successfully connected call is free, up to 5 minutes, and expires 7 days after account creation. No credit card is required to start.
- **Coverage:** domestic United States phone networks only. It does not work internationally.
- **Not an emergency service.** LOST101 does not replace 911 and should never be used in place of it.
- **Consent is required in both directions.** You cannot call an arbitrary number. Each trusted contact receives a text invitation and must explicitly accept before you can ever be connected to them. Contacts must be 18 or older, and can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
- **Calls are outbound only.** Contacts cannot call you back through LOST101. This is deliberate, for abuse prevention.
- **Numbers are never exposed.** Both parties see "LOST101" on caller ID. Stored phone numbers are encrypted at rest.
- **Limits:** up to 20 trusted contacts, 20 minutes maximum per individual call, and 500 connected minutes per year per account.
- **Availability:** web at https://888lost101.com and an iOS app on the App Store. Android is not yet released.
